![]() ![]() Both apps are the way to go imo, good to be still alive now sonically speaking. I could go on forever, please read the other threads posted above. H5 only has 2 polyphonic LFOs per layer, then you're left with mono LFOs via the Midi modules, M5 has limitless modulators per keygroup. M5 also wins on the onboard FX side and is much more intuitive to program, as H5 still uses this old school Modmatrix whereas in M5 you assign everything quickly via right clicking and can open each modulator in seperate windows. HALions distortion modes sound better, M5 has more filter types which sound really good. The synths in both apps are pretty good, but M5 adds FM and Wavetable synthesis to the table and supports drag and drop of single cycle waveforms. If you're looking for an allrounder with a modulation system as flexible (or even more flexible) than Alchemy's and scripting par or better than Kontakt's get MachFive. Isnt the Halion 5 download content less GB than Halion 4, by a lot When I loaded up Halion 5, it seemed like not much content was loaded as it went fast. HALion does not support sfz which sucks so you have to map everything inside H5 and can't use converted Kontakt mappings (the chickensystems Tranlator Pro only produces garbage when converting nkis to the only available HALion 2 format). Bot granular engines play multisamples, similar to Alchemy where you can just import sfzs and set them to granular mode. ![]() Which would you recommend?Hard to say - if you're looking for the best sounding, most tweakable granular engine out there then get HALion 5, MachFive clearly looses on the granular side, but they're currently tweaking the engine so this could change soon. Multimedia tools downloads - Steinberg HALion Player by Steinberg Media Technologies GmbH and many more programs are available.
